The software-defined datacenter revolution began with virtualized servers multiplying and simplifying provisioning of compute resources. Software-defined efficiencies are now also making a big impact on the storage and networking systems in datacenters.
We offer Barton, a turnkey software-defined storage solution that is built on industry-standard hardware and the Storage Spaces Direct feature in Windows Server 2016.
Barton is blazingly fast, economical to scale, and incredibly easy to manage, with rich disaster recovery options.
Having installed traditional storage systems for many years, we could no longer ignore the fact that customers weren’t always happy with the results of the tough choices they had to make.
About two years ago, we started working on the idea that IT as an industry could do a better job of dealing with the growing challenges that customers faced in “taming the storage beast”. It must be possible to make storage operations simpler, we thought, make them faster, make them cheaper and provide a genuine premium service for the storage platform.
Pretty soon it became clear that software-defined storage had to be the answer. Having pioneered many emerging Microsoft technologies over the years, we turned to the Windows storage team that was preparing the next release of Windows Server. With Storage Spaces already under its belt, it soon helped us discover the potential of Windows Server.
Not much later, testing beta code convinced us that Storage Spaces Direct was the key to our ambition to do storage better. A highly specialized team of engineers and support staff started working to put it all together. With every visit to the Microsoft headquarters, the enthusiasm grew. Hardware vendors came to the table, showing strong confidence in our work. Developers designed a management console with stunning simplicity and service processes were put in place.
The result of all this enthusiasm is Barton Managed Storage. Give it a try.
